Description The Junior Fleet Maintenance Technician assists with the maintenance, repair, and servicing of Beacon’s fleet of Class 8 trucks, trailers, containers, and heavy equipment. Reporting directly to the Senior Fleet Maintenance Technician, this role focuses on building technical skills through hands-on work, performing routine maintenance, and supporting fleet operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and inspections. Assists with basic repairs, including brakes, lights, air lines, suspension components, and minor electrical work. Supports troubleshooting and diagnostics using basic tools and equipment under guidance of Senior Fleet Technician. Assists with DOT inspections and ensures equipment meets safety and compliance standards. Maintains clean, organized work area and properly stores tools and equipment. Documents all work performed, parts used, and updates work orders. Communicates equipment status and repair updates to supervisors and team members. Follows all safety policies and procedures, including PPE requirements and hazard reporting. Actively participates in training, mentorship, and skill development opportunities. Familiarity with hand and power tools. Ability to read and follow technical manuals and diagrams. Basic computer skills for CMMS (Limble) and parts lookup systems. Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn. Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team. ASE certifications and CDL (or willingness to obtain) are a plus. Valid Driver’s License required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1–3 years of experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment maintenance, or relevant technical training. Basic knowledge of vehicle systems including brakes, suspension, electrical, hydraulics, and engines. Ability to perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs under supervision. Willingness to learn diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Ability to safely perform physical job duties in a shop environment.
