Caladwich Consulting is seeking a Junior Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Specialist to provide assistance to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) FOIA Program with FOIA intake, initial reviews, record searches, and routine correspondence drafting. This entry-level role supports FOIA processing activities under the guidance of senior staff and contributes to timely, compliant handling of FOIA requests within the VA’s designated eFOIA system of record. This role assists senior staff in maintaining workflow efficiency, ensuring accuracy, and supporting timely completion of FOIA tasks Daily Hours of Operation are 7:00 am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. Core Responsibilities- SM Expertise in the following fields: • Conduct initial reviews of FOIA requests to support intake and processing activities. • Assist with searches for responsive records in coordination with VA Service Line offices. • Draft routine FOIA correspondence and supporting documentation for senior staff review. • Support document organization, indexing, and preparation for redaction. • Enter and maintain accurate FOIA case information within the VA’s eFOIA system of record. • Track assigned tasks and follow processing timelines to support backlog reduction. • Communicate with senior FOIA staff regarding case status, issues, or required follow-up actions. • Perform FOIA-related tasks in accordance with VA policies, procedures, and guidance. Requirements Requirements for Candidate: · Associates’ degree w/ concentration on Business Administration, Public Administration, Information System major from accredited institution. · Minimum of one (1) year of FOIA request processing experience within the last 24 months. · Familiarity with enterprise FOIA backlog reduction initiatives. · Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional responses. · Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database tools. · Must be a U.S. Citizen Benefits: · 401(k) matching · Health/Dental/Vision insurance · Life insurance · Paid time off (PTO) · Federal Holiday Observation
