Take ownership of smaller features or components, from implementation to deployment and monitoring, with guidance from more senior engineers. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, following engineering best practices. Participate actively in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint ceremonies to continuously improve your craft. Contribute to improving system performance, reliability, and scalability through debugging, refactoring, and optimization. Communicate clearly and proactively in our asynchronous, distributed working environment. Your skills and experience To thrive at Employment Hero, you’ll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you’ll also bring You have 1-3 years of hands-on experience in backend or API development. You have engineering fundamentals, including understanding of databases, RESTful APIs, and software design patterns. You are proficient in at least one backend programming language and comfortable learning new ones (we’ll help you upskill in our stack). You understand version control (Git), CI/CD, and automated testing, and are familiar with Agile development workflows. You take ownership of the problems you solve, think beyond the code, and care about delivering meaningful outcomes for users. You communicate effectively, embrace feedback, and enjoy collaborating across functions and time zones. You have a growth mindset, always learning, experimenting, and refining your technical and problem-solving skills. You have experience with frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript, or you’re eager to upskill and take on FullStack responsibilities as part of your growth path.
