THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Looking to work on a job that has a meaningful impact on millions of customers? Join our Tech Logistics “Automation Core” Engineering team as a Fullstack Software Engineer (all genders) and help us with delivering a high-performance, stable, auto-scaling software system that will have an impact on our customers’ happiness.
The Tech Logistics Automation Core team is responsible for integrating automated devices and external hardware systems into the large Zalando warehouse management system and its processes. E.g. make use of large conveyor systems, integrate parcel sorters or enable automated packaging devices to pack our customer orders.
Part of these integrations are approaches and tools to operate and monitor our production services to provide high available solutions to our users and stakeholders within the Zalando logistics centers.
With this integration the team contributes to the Fulfillment Capabilities customer goal: Our customers choose to buy at Zalando because they can enjoy the widest relevant assortment with the best delivery promise.

WHAT WE’D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND ENJOY DOING)

  • Be involved in all parts of the development process — from designing solutions, coding, testing, to making sure everything runs smoothly in production
  • Help design, develop, and deploy systems that our colleagues in the warehouses rely on daily
  • Work on building and improving the software architecture for our products, making sure it evolves over time and aligns with our tech strategy
  • Write high-quality, reliable, and testable code, and support your teammates by reviewing their work and sharing your knowledge
  • Test new features with stakeholders, keeping the bigger picture in mind
  • Spend about 60% of your time working on backend code and 40% on frontend features
