Junior Geologists – Exploration Position Description Kibali Gold Mine is seeking to recruit three (3) Junior Geologists – Exploration to join and grow our team. Responsibilities: Conduct geological mapping, rock chip sampling, soil sampling, and trench logging. Assist in drill site preparation, core logging, and sample collection. Ensure accurate recording and labeling of geological samples Input and manage geological data in databases and GIS systems. Assist in interpreting geochemical, geophysical, and drilling results. Prepare preliminary geological reports and maps. Support senior geologists in planning and executing exploration programs. Monitor drilling operations and ensure compliance with sampling protocols. Maintain field equipment and ensure safety standards are followed Adhere to company safety policies and environmental regulations. Participate in safety briefings and risk assessments. Promote a culture of safe and responsible exploration practices. The Kibali gold mine is located in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), approximately 220 kilometres east of the capital of the Haut Uele province, Isiro, 150 kilometres west of the Ugandan border town of Arua and 1,800 kilometres from the Kenyan port of Mombasa. The mine is owned by Kibali Goldmines SA (Kibali) which is a joint venture company effectively owned 45% by each of Barrick and AngloGold Ashanti, and 10% by Société Miniére de Kilo-Moto (SOKIMO). The mine is operated by Barrick.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include conducting essential field activities such as geological mapping, sampling, and trench logging, alongside assisting with drill site preparation and core logging. The role also requires accurate recording and management of geological data in databases and GIS systems, and supporting senior geologists in exploration programs.
