JOB OVERVIEW

Our company, a leading provider in the Brampton transportation and logistics sector, is seeking a motivated and eager Junior Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic to join our dynamic team. This is a full-time, on-site role for a Junior Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic located in Mississauga, ON. The Junior Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic will be responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance on heavy-duty trucks and trailers, diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, conducting vehicle inspections, and ensuring all vehicles meet safety standards. The role requires attention to detail and adherence to all regulatory guidelines and company standards.

SKILLS

  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a similar shop environment (co-op placements and school shop experience are considered valuable).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Basic understanding of diesel engine repair, air brake systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with using diagnostic tools (e.g., laptop software, multimeters) is an asset.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for long periods, and work in various positions (kneeling, bending, climbing).
  • Driver’s License: A valid G driver’s license is required. A DZ license is a significant asset, given the Brampton logistics environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in Repairs & Maintenance: Work alongside senior mechanics to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Preventative Maintenance (PM): Conduct routine PM services, including oil changes, filter replacements, greasing components, and tire inspections/rotations.
  • Diagnostics: Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic software and tools.
  • Component Work: Remove, repair, and reinstall components such as alternators, starters, water pumps, and brake systems.
  • Documentation: Accurately complete work orders, documenting parts used, labour time, and repairs performed.
  • Inventory & Tool Management: Maintain a clean and organized workspace. Manage tools and assist in monitoring parts inventory.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including Ontario Health & Safety regulations. Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Learning & Development: Continuously learn and develop new skills through hands-on experience and training provided by senior staff.
