Description Status: Full-Time Reports To: Principal Overview St. Louis Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and dynamic Spanish Teacher to lead our 7th and 8th-grade Spanish Program. In our Junior High, Spanish is a core academic subject, prioritized alongside Mathematics and Language Arts. The ideal candidate will not only possess a deep mastery of the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures but will also be committed to the spiritual and academic growth of students within the framework of Catholic values. Key Responsibilities 1. Instructional Excellence Develop and implement rigorous lesson plans for 7th and 8th-grade levels, focusing on the four pillars of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Prepare students for high school placement exams and advanced Spanish tracks. Integrate technology and authentic cultural resources to create an immersive classroom environment. 2. Faith Integration Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum (e.g., studying the lives of Hispanic Saints, discussing social justice through a global lens, and leading classroom prayer in Spanish). Model a Christian lifestyle and participate in the liturgical life of the school community. 3. Classroom Management & Assessment Maintain a positive, disciplined, and engaging classroom culture rooted in mutual respect. Utilize diverse assessment methods to track student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback. Maintain accurate grading records and communicate effectively with parents regarding student achievement. Requirements Required Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, Secondary Education, or a related field. Certification: Valid State Teaching Credential (or eligibility to obtain one). Fluency: Near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English. Faith: A practicing Catholic in good standing is preferred. Desirable Skills Experience teaching at the Middle School/Junior High level. Willingness to lead extracurricular activities (e.g., Spanish Club, service projects, or cultural celebrations).
