Description

Designtheory Inc., a Toronto based award-winning interior design and décor firm, seeks a talented, dynamic, creative Junior Interior Designer to assist in our interior design efforts.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously with an approachable, responsive, and flexible style. The candidate will report to the Principal Designers but must be capable of taking the initiative to execute tasks from conception to completion. Applicants should thrive in team-oriented environments and have the ability to manage workload independently.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience with residential design and renovation projects is key
· 2-4 years of experience are required along with a diploma/degree in Interior Design and/or Decorating from an accredited school
· Strong desire to learn the design process
· Ability to communicate design ideas and direction quickly
· Strong organizational, communication and relationship management skills
· Computer skills, including AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite
· Attention to detail and accuracy is critical

Responsibilities

· Candidate must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and have excellent communication skills
· When required, candidate must make site trips with the Principal Designer to assist with the scope of work required for the project
· Assist in sourcing and selecting finishes for various projects and input data into finish and material schedules
· Create project material finish boards as needed
· Maintain and manage the firm’s materials library; meet with suppliers and product representatives to ensure the most up-to-date materials
· Maintain and manage the firm’s online/digital sourcing catalog
· Prepare presentation materials and packages for client meetings including preparation of working drawing binders, specification packages, sample layout, moodboards etc.
· Attend and assist with project deliveries and installations
· Able to input sketches into AutoCAD, block up elevations, manipulate floor plans, dimensions, create schedules, tag finishes from redline set, and set title blocks
