SKILLS:

  • Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience working in an IT development environment.
  • Proficient in in C#, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Experience using Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Visual Basic, Azure DevOps, Azure Application Insights, and IIS.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Understanding or exposure to testing methodologies, process automation or API integration would be advantageous
  • Desirable to have experience of working within the Insurance or Financial Services sector.
  • Self-motivated with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage workload in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As a Junior IT Developer, you will support the IT Business Analyst and Developers to drive continuous improvement initiatives within the IT department. Ensuring that a high level of customer service and support is provided to the business at all times. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute technical strategies.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ticket Management: Monitor, log, and resolve support tickets in line with agreed service levels, escalating where necessary. Triage and manage internal tickets, collaborating with developers and third-party providers to ensure swift resolution.
  • Platform Development: Work with the IT Business Analyst and Senior Developer to enhance platforms, ensuring they meet evolving business needs while remaining robust and secure.
  • Project Work: Participate in IT projects as directed by senior IT staff, contributing to successful delivery and adoption.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation following project completions or configuration changes.
  • Issue Escalation: Escalate technical issues to the IT Business Analyst, Developers, IT Manager, or Managing Director where appropriate.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with the technical underwriting team and wider business to align IT solutions with operational requirements.
  • Communication & Coordination: Provide timely updates to the business on system developments, and ensure deadlines are met with any risks communicated promptly.
  • Best Practices: Follow development, testing, and release best practices to ensure quality and reliability.
