JUNIOR IT SUPPORT FIELD TECHNICIAN

We are looking for a junior IT support field technician to join our team, and that could be you!
For over 16 years, Gennix Consulting has served the Lower Mainland business community with high-quality, professional IT support services. Gennix is a managed service provider (MSP) that focuses on building solid client relationships.

THE TYPE OF PERSON WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We need someone who enjoys the practical side of information technology and has a keen desire to learn (we are not looking for coders or database gurus). The successful candidate must have excellent people skills and want to help our clients solve their IT problems efficiently.
What does a Junior IT Support Field Technician do?
A Gennix junior IT support field technician must be willing to jump in on tasks like troubleshooting software issues, hardware configurations, and network cabling.

Duties include the following:

  • Troubleshooting hardware issues in our workshop, installing and testing software
  • Delivering equipment to client sites, troubleshooting fundamental IT issues, and helping our senior technicians by providing onsite assistance
  • Running network cable for computer, Wi-Fi, and VOIP phone connections
  • Some work on our helpdesk, assisting our clients via phone and email

Our junior technicians report directly to the Director of Client Services.
Qualifications and Skills
Gennix IT Technicians require soft skills and technical aptitude to perform their jobs effectively. Our techs interact with a wide variety of clients, many without advanced technical skills, and must be able to communicate patiently and effectively.

When reviewing candidates for our junior IT support field technician positions, we look for the following skills and qualifications:

  • Oral and written communication
  • Some understanding of computer networks and systems
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts
  • Two years of related work experience
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Time management skills
  • Organizational aptitude
  • Secondary Education Diploma

We do not have any post-secondary requirements; however, candidates who have completed and passed vendor certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certifications receive special consideration.

REQUIREMENTS

We have a few mandatory requirements for our junior IT support field technicians

  • Valid driver’s license and use of a vehicle (mileage and business use of vehicle insurance are reimbursed)
  • Eligibility to work in Canada

Salary and Benefits

  • Starting Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per year
