Are you passionate about technology and eager to break into the IT field? Peterbilt Manitoba Ltd. is looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Junior IT Support Technician to join our General/Admin team in Winnipeg. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, working hands-on with technology, and supporting others, even if you don’t have years of professional experience.
Reporting directly to the IT Manager, you’ll provide hands-on and remote support to staff across the organization, contribute to system maintenance and documentation, and play a key part in keeping our day-to-day IT operations running smoothly. You’ll also have the opportunity to assist with larger projects and develop your skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Tech-savvy, with an aptitude for working with computers, software, and electronics.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and performing repairs on IT assets; able to support a wide range of unfamiliar applications with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable working with computer hardware and performing bench work using hands and hand tools.
  • Experience with Windows, Debian-like, macOS, and iOS operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of core computing concepts such as DNS, DHCP, virtualization, networking, backups, permissions, printing, email, licensing, MDM, and Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new software systems and databases.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong track record of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Sound judgment in escalating issues to senior IT staff when appropriate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with team members, employees, and management.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, passionate about technology, eager to learn, and a positive team player.
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs, as well as bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, stretching, sitting, or standing for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff seeking technical assistance.
  • Resolve end-user IT issues. Including but not limited to, password resets, software questions, PC hardware problems, Internet connectivity, printing problems.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Perform in-person, on-site repairs of PC hardware, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Image/deploy workstations to users as needed.
  • Identify and escalate deeper and more complex issues to appropriate resources.
  • Participate in moves, adds, and changes to network and systems access for new, departing, or relocated employees.
  • Accurately log work orders/helpdesk tickets and resolutions in the help desk ticket system.
  • Write documentation for end-users and IT staff.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all repair records, reports, and other documents as required.
  • System administration tasks as assigned.
  • Assist I.T. Manager as required.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
