JOB SUMMARY

The IT Technician is a front-line support role responsible for providing day-to-day technical assistance and operational support across Malta International Airport. This is a 24/7 shift-based position that ensures continuous availability of IT services, including hardware, software, networking, and user support.
While the IT Technician reports to the IT Operations Manager, the role is operationally guided and mentored by the IT Team Lead, particularly for daily tasks, technical escalation, and shift coordination. The successful candidate will be customer-focused, technically skilled, and adaptable to a dynamic airport environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or certification in IT, Computer Science, or related
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a similar IT support role
  • Experience working in a shift-based or high-availability environment is a plus
  • Familiarity with Windows OS, Active Directory, Office 365, and basic networking

Responsibilities

Technical Support and Troubleshooting

  • Provide first and second-line support for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests raised through the IT service desk system.
  • Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, phones, and other end-user devices.
  • Resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.

Shift-Based Operations

  • Work on a rotating 24/7 shift pattern to ensure round-the-clock IT support.
  • Monitor IT systems and infrastructure for issues or anomalies during shifts.
  • Escalate unresolved or critical issues to the IT Team Lead or relevant specialist teams.
  • Follow defined procedures for incident management and handover.

System and Asset Management

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and deployment of IT equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and software assets.
  • Support routine maintenance and updates on workstations and systems.

Collaboration and Documentation

  • Work closely with the IT Team Lead and other technical staff.
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for incidents, fixes, and procedures.
  • Participate in training and knowledge sharing initiatives.
