Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Acorn is seeking a passionate and dynamic lab technician for a full time hourly position. You will be primarily responsible for the commercial processing of human biological samples in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) upon the arrival of samples to our centralized lab. These samples are a lifelong resource for our clients, and diligent processing is paramount to ensure their ideal preservation. You should feel comfortable in the start-up environment and feel energized and rewarded when you help us achieve great results.
Please note, this role may include work on evening and weekends shifts.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Cryopreservation of Human Biological Samples

  • Perform all pre-processing tasks associated with cryopreservation of human follicle stem cells. Including, sample accession, triage, labelling and recordkeeping.
  • Monitor and conduct inbound sample logistics.
  • Collect, analyze and cryopreserve human biological samples in ISO-7 and ISO-5 cleanrooms in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Manage collection kit fulfillment orders.
  • Handle the transfer of samples into liquid nitrogen tanks.
  • Conduct Quality control tests and provide reports for analysis.
  • Transport biological samples to and from the laboratory, when required.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, sanitation and cleaning of the cleanrooms.
  • Maintain proper documentation, inclusive of batch records for all sample processing.
  • Actively promote safety and awareness in the laboratory.
  • Aid in the quality control process by assisting in creation of SOPs, documentation and records.
  • Actively keep up to date with current advancements in research, equipment and procedures within the hair follicle, stem cell, cryopreservation, tissue processing fields, and any other related fields.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned or modified as required throughout the course of your employment.
