Description:

The Junior Landscape Designer will be vital in all phases of our landscape design | build projects. You’ll assist our lead landscape designers to bring clients’ visions to life, from initial consultation to final installation. This position is perfect for a highly motivated individual with a foundational understanding of landscape principles who is ready to learn and develop their skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

  • Design & Client Engagement Support:
  • Assist in developing creative and functional landscape design concepts.
  • Support lead designers during site analysis and client consultations, observing and learning to identify project goals, site conditions, and client preferences.
  • Help prepare compelling presentation materials, including sketches, conceptual drawings, and material selections, to communicate design ideas effectively.
  • Collaborate with the design team and clients throughout the design process, incorporating feedback under guidance.
  • Research and learn about local codes and regulations relevant to landscape design.
  • Technical Development & Implementation:
  • Utilize Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Lumion software to assist in creating detailed design drawings and documentation (layout plans, planting plans, construction documents).
  • Support the development of preliminary cost estimates and assist with material sourcing.
  • Cross-collaborate with our project managers to ensure the accurate implementation of design intent.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Stay current with industry trends, plant materials, and design software.
  • Assist the Landscape Designers with various design-related tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Design, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in landscape design or a strong portfolio of relevant design work.
  • Proficiency using Vectorworks, SketchUp, and Lumion software is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with other design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite, is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of plant materials, horticultural principles, and sustainable design practices relevant to the New England region.
  • Basic understanding of landscape construction techniques and materials.
  • Strong graphic communication and visual presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clearly presenting design concepts.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.

AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, weekends as needed for client meetings.
