Walter Law Group is a boutique law firm in South Mississauga and we are growing. We are currently looking for an employment lawyer with 1-3 years of litigation experience to join us. We are a busy employment and personal injury law firm. The successful candidate will advise clients on a broad range of employment matters; be given carriage of employment law cases to handle independently, and assist Senior Counsel in complex employment and injury cases. This is an exceptional opportunity for those looking for hands-on experience as part of a dynamic and engaging team.

Qualifications - What you bring to the table

  • 1-3 years of experience in litigation, including employment law;
  • · Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and Case Center, and relevant employment legislation;
  • · A Member of the Law Society of Ontario in good standing

Responsibilities
  • Achieve best outcomes for clients by thinking critically with good judgment;
  • Drive positive outcomes by advising clients on the law and legal trends; conducting legal analysis and research; preparing communications; drafting employment contracts, legal pleadings, motions, and briefs; preparing for and managing pre-trial discovery; attending on examinations; and participating in mediations, hearings and trials.
  • Under the direction of Senior Counsel, advising employment law clients on a broad range of employment matters;
  • Assisting Senior Counsel as an advocate before all levels of court.
  • Actively manage and document client case files.
  • Ensure superior service to clients by engaging with clients in person and virtually; proactively communicating information; responding to inquiries; and following client engagement best practices.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with legal trends, establishing personal networks and participating in professional development.
  • Work to create new opportunities through writing and editing of articles, blogs and participating in firm marketing initiatives.
