ABOUT FITNESS AND LIFESTYLE GROUP:

Fitness and Lifestyle Group (FLG) is Asia-Pacific’s largest diversified fitness, health and wellness group, headquartered in Australia. We truly make a meaningful, positive impact on people’s lives through innovative and diversified fitness, health and wellness offerings across physical and digital platforms. Put simply, our purpose is to empower our global community to live stronger and happier lives.
Our portfolio of globally recognised brands includes Fitness First Australia, Barry’s Bootcamp, Goodlife Health Clubs Australia, Jetts, and Zap. With 500+ physical locations across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand in addition to its on-demand digital health and fitness programs, FLG currently helps almost a million people live healthier and more active lives.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Join a fast-paced, purpose-driven team making an impact across Australia and beyond.
We are seeking a permanent full-time Junior Legal Counsel to join the team at our Corporate Head Office in Brisbane. You’ll report to our Group Legal Counsel and play a key role in delivering legal support across all FLG brands in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and emerging jurisdictions.
This role will suit an early career lawyer with prior in-house experience or who is looking to pivot from private practice. A strong academic record is great, but the law is always changing! You’ll need a passion for learning and a creative mindset for problem solving. In-house practice is about meeting the client where they’re at, not giving them a 15-page advice with footnotes to digest.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A qualified lawyer with a current QLD practicing certificate or the ability to obtain one
  • 0-2 years PAE (law firm or in-house experience)
  • Strong drafting skills and knowledge across contract law, ACL, IP, privacy, property, and dispute resolution
  • Excellent communicator who can tailor legal advice to suit different audiences
  • Independent, organised, and comfortable working across multiple projects in a lean environment
  • A team player with a great attitude-collaborative, curious, and excited to build a career in-house
If you aren’t sure whether you have all the skills we’re looking for, we’ll tell you a secret: apply anyway. You must be a qualified lawyer and hold a current QLD practicing certificate (or the ability to obtain one). Beyond that, we’re looking for the right person to join our team.

PLEASE CLICK ‘APPLY’ TO SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:

  • Your current resume and transcript
  • A cover letter, outlining how you meet the areas described in “What we are looking for”
  • An AI generated image, poem or song from your AI bot of choice to finish the following sentence:
“I will be a great member of the in-house legal team at FLG because…”
Why do we need an AI output as part of your application? AI is part of our lives and an evolving element of legal practice. Law is an inherently creative profession and always subject to change. Good in-house practice requires an agile mindset and a degree of courage: someone who can take the problem presented to them and run with it to the client’s satisfaction.
Plus, we want this to be fun for our recruitment team. Play on.
