We are looking for a Junior Management Accountant to join our growing Audit and Accounts team based in the Borehamwood office. This is a busy and varied role, ideal for an experienced bookkeeper with intermediate skills in producing monthly management accounts and looking for an opportunity to progress in management accounting. As part of the role, you will ensure that regulatory requirements for preparing statutory accounts are met, advise clients on their obligations, and prepare management accounts for a portfolio of clients from core records.

You will be also:

  • Preparing monthly/quarterly management accounts, providing analysis and designated reports
  • Bookkeeping and VAT reporting to a high standard and maintaining client records for referral where needed
  • Cashflow reporting and forecasts
  • Managing Month/Quarter end adjustments and reconciliations
  • Providing support to junior members of staff including training where required
  • Working as part of a team and when required:
  • Preparing ad hoc reports for clients
  • Performing payment runs
  • As the role progresses, preparing year end statutory accountsMaintaining client files and documentation in accordance with Sopher + Co standards
  • Keeping abreast of developments in accounting, taxation and relevant computer software
  • Maintaining client confidentiality at all times in accordance with Sopher + Co HR Policies & Procedures

ABOUT YOU

You’ll have intermediate experience working within a professional accountancy practice, combined with a strong commitment to learn management accounts. You will also have/be:

  • AAT Qualified (desired but not essential)
  • Intermediate experience of bookkeeping, knowledge of management accounts, specifically including preparing pre-payments, accruals, depreciation, accrued income and deferred income
  • Knowledge on cash flow reports and forecasts (desirable but not essential)
  • Experience of dealing with a varied and demanding client base including telephone, email and face to face communication
  • Up to date knowledge of accounting practices
  • Outstanding time management skills and ability to prioritise work
  • Excellent work ethics
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a drive for ideas, suggestions and improvements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
