Key Responsibilities of Junior Mechanical Design Engineer:
- To be responsible for research and / or calculations for customers seeking component system solutions.
- Create and work to an agreed checklist for design and assembly.
- Responsible for ensuring all drawings are held in one secure and controlled location, ensuring the most current versions are maintained and are fit for purpose.
- Using design software to develop models and drawings of new products.
- Liaise with the production team to oversee the production process, and resolve any design queries.
- Modify and refine drawings as required to ensure they meet the required specification(s).
- Develop presales drawings where required to accompany customer quotations.
- Assess all engineering drawings / prototypes to determine issues or risks.
- Work with the production team to ensure all designs are cost effective and meet all requirements.
- Review processes, identifying and implementing improvements where appropriate.
- Work to ISO standards and processes.
- Being an advocate for and working to H&S standards.
- Supporting and working towards the Company vision and values.
- Performing ad hoc duties as required.
Required Skills for Junior Mechanical Design Engineer:
- A minimum of 2 years experience of working in a similar position with a relevant qualification (such as an HNC level apprenticeship).
- Demonstrable mechanical design engineering background.
- Experience of working with 3D design packages
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Experience of Autodesk Inventor (desirable)
- MRP system knowledge (desirable)
