At MDS, we are on the lookout for a skilled Mechanical Designer - Technologist to be a valuable addition to our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the design and selection of mechanical components, where your expertise will shine through in the creation of precise engineering drawings. We are seeking an individual with exceptional talent who can not only conceptualize but also design mechanical components and systems, drawing upon their deep understanding of materials, processes, and cutting-edge technologies.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized college.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written.

Key Skills Required:

  • 0-2 years of experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Proficiency in drawing standards, with a primary focus on ASME Y14.5 (current and prior versions).
  • Good command of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in 3D Modeling software, including AutoDesk Inventor.
  • Experience in 2D Drawing software, specifically AutoDesk AutoCAD.
  • Familiarity with file management software, such as AutoDesk Vault.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes, covering welding, forming, and machining.
  • Knowledge of Plant-3D (P3D), and Revit is bonus.
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware and software, including Windows, Word, and Excel
Responsibilities
  • Take part in the design and selection of mechanical components, translating concepts into detailed engineering drawings.
  • Apply your creativity and expertise to conceptualize and design mechanical components and systems that meet project requirements.
  • Conduct in-depth research on materials, processes, and technologies to identify optimal solutions for designs.
  • Use your experience to select components and efficiently input data into our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and other stakeholders to ensure designs align with project goals.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, working with the team to identify and resolve design challenges.
  • Develop prototypes and rigorously validate designs, ensuring their functionality and efficiency.
  • Create meticulous Detail, Welding/Machining, and Mechanical Assembly Drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards or other relevant guidelines.
  • Prepare Facility Layout and Building drawings, tailored to the unique requirements of each project.
  • Ensure impeccable drawing presentation, maintain accuracy, and determine the optimal level of detail required for manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support to various departments within the organization, from manufacturing to sales and customer support.
