ATTRIBUTES & SKILLS

  • Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first principles

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: 1-4 years engineering experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical but relevant experience considered
  • Other: APEGA EIT (P.Eng in Progress) or P.Eng

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role supports a broad range of mechanical engineering activities at Summit. As a Junior Engineer, you will contribute to various tasks related to the mechanical design of prototypes and commercial systems, including equipment specification, prototype development, and technical research. You may also assist other teams within the company on mechanical projects as needed. Success in this role requires the ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines, such as process, electrical, and controls, and to develop a strong understanding of how these areas interact. You should be able to think both creatively and analytically, while remaining adaptable to changes in project scope, direction, and timelines.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in SolidWorks to design process equipment, piping systems, structural frames related to prototypes and commercial systems.
  • Use data and first engineering principles to design/specify process equipment, components, and design tests/experiments.
  • Produce detailed mechanical drawings for quoting and fabrication.
  • Assist other teams with mechanical projects on an ad-hoc basis
  • Work with stakeholders throughout the company to understand customer requirements, business goals, and other engineering requirements
  • Coordinate with specialty engineering consultants when needed to complete a project
