• Maintenance and repairs: Mechanical technicians maintain, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, such as factory machines, medical equipment, and construction equipment. They may need to disassemble machinery, remove faulty components, install new parts, and reassemble the equipment.
• Preventative measures: Mechanical technicians devise ways to prevent machine downtime.
• Record keeping: Mechanical technicians keep records of machine service history.
• Troubleshooting: Mechanical technicians troubleshoot electrical controls and other issues with systems and equipment.
• Analysis: Mechanical technicians analyze machine test results and make adjustments to meet company specifications.
• Communication: Mechanical technicians communicate with colleagues, especially when equipment isn’t working properly or when maintenance is scheduled.
• Technical expertise: Mechanical technicians are familiar with industry standard equipment and technical expertise. They should be able to read and understand engineering blueprints and schematics.
