QUALIFICATIONS:

  • APEGA registered / eligible EIT’s are preferred. Wayfinder has a strong interest in applicants with relevant Jr. level, or intermediate surface mining experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in mining or civil engineering is preferred, but not required; exceptional CET’s with relevant experience, are encouraged to apply
  • Data Analysis & Business Intelligence: familiar with creating effective reports, dashboards using business intelligence tools (Power BI, SCADA, PLC)
  • Applicants with relevant technical skills a significant asset; those experienced with surveying, mine design & modelling, mining equipment, or mineral processing techniques are encouraged to apply!
    This role is ideal for an exceptional CET, or ascending EIT intent on working towards their Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation. Ideally, the successful candidate will be motivated to work in a hands-on capacity, securing direct and practical experience in all aspects of surface mining and processing operations.

Responsibilities

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide mine planning and operations support by assisting in the design of pit layouts, haul roads, dumps, and infrastructure that supports mining activities
  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health and Safety legislation, while also meeting or exceeding internal expectations;
  • Participate in site safety inspections and all other initiatives, such as risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards
  • Conduct data analysis to facilitate informed decision-making that optimizes operations; prepare technical reports, data, and schematics for internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor, report and make recommendations on variances against schedules and productivity for all on-site activities, collaborating to develop solutions
  • Act as the internal liaison between production and logistics, ensuring customer commitments are achieved, and opportunities for improvement are identified
