QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • A working experience of networking equipment, their installation and maintenance with an ability to learn new Networking technologies, or explore and recommend improvements over the current practices.
  • Knowledge of WAN, LAN, VPN, and VLAN management in regards to our multiple locations/entities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Firewall Implementation, management, and security.
  • The ability to design, diagram, and implement new networks is a plus.
  • Effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with various internal users, Vendors, and suppliers.
  • Ability to create and maintain a positive working relationships with vendors/suppliers.
  • Ability to understand and implement/communicate supplier Standards and protocols.
  • Explore new options/enhancements/technologies
  • Work well within a small team of people, where there are leads on various aspects of our Information Infrastructure, with a willingness to work together to grow and support each other as necessary
  • This position may require you to work weekend days and holidays, as well as participate in the afterhours on call shifts.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, such as Server OS, Windows 10/11 Workstation, virtualization, and MS Active Directory.
  • Proficiency with Active Directory Management & Troubleshooting.
  • Hospitality and/or POS knowledge is an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Provide effective support, timely organization, and direction in regards to the various network backbones, ensuring the reliability and accuracy of the applicable IT systems and initiating/responding to urgent client and departmental issues (eg. phone, email, signal messaging service, etc.)
  • Communicating key issues/problems on network backbone related issues to the IT Team to keep them up to date.
  • Responsible for all hardware, firmware, and preventative maintenance issues pertaining to the network backbones. Including their set-up and reading of the various monitoring systems (PRTG, NinjaOne) to provide direction or complete the necessary steps to address the critical issues to prevent system or user downtime.
  • Explore and reporting on more effective and efficient Networking solutions, enhancements, and technologies.
  • Provide or create documentation/technical specifications or standard operating procedures to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of Network infrastructure where required and as directed by the Manager of Information services.
  • Responsible for timely completion of projects assigned and the quality of the applicable solution(s).
