PERSON SPECIFICATION:

• 1–3 years’ proven leadership experience in a fast-paced operational role
• Strong understanding of warehouse, production, and transport processes
• A confident communicator with the ability to empower and motivate teams to deliver success
• Strategic and hands-on: able to think big and act quickly
• Meticulously organised with excellent attention to detail and time management
• Flexible and resilient, with a willingness to adapt to peak periods and occasional extended hours
• Independent thinker who makes informed decisions under pressure
• Open to personal development, with an interest in innovation and emerging operational technologies
• Proficient in WMS and TMS platforms, with solid skills in Excel or Power BI
• Experience in food technical audits (e.g. BRC)

ROLE: JUNIOR OPERATIONS LEAD

We seek a proactive and highly organised Junior Operations Lead to support our core business functions across production, services, and transport, working directly with the Operations Manager. This role sits at the heart of our operations, ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes, from production to dispatch.
You’ll work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners, maintaining accurate records, managing critical data, scheduling deliveries, and coordinating production workflows. You’ll act as a central point of communication, helping to streamline operations and support exceptional service delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and coordinate day-to-day operations across production, technical, transport, and wholesale services
• Manage time-critical outbound orders, ensuring transport compliance and optimised multi-drop chilled and ambient deliveries across London and surrounding areas
• Act as the first line of escalation for operational issues, resolving them swiftly and effectively
• Implement, maintain, and improve standard operating procedures, driving team-wide consistency and accountability
• Support the Operations Director with resource planning, scheduling, and cost management
• Track and analyse KPIs, including delivery timeliness, picking accuracy, vehicle utilisation, and labour efficiency
• Promote a culture of ownership, adaptability, and continuous improvement across the operations team
• Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to ensure seamless, high-quality service delivery
• Proactively explore and trial technology, automation, and AI to drive innovation and improve workflow
