Description

Tripcentral.ca would like to hire a junior level PC support person to help grow one of Canada’s premier online travel agencies. This position will involve varied job responsibilities including supporting our agents and helping maintain our network and server infrastructure. We are a small team, so there are plenty of opportunities to learn from more senior staff, and potential room to advance as your skills develop.
This is a full time job that might require weekend or evening hours depending on situation and time of year. The position reports to the Director of Technology.
We’re looking for somebody who can operate independently, who likes solving problems and who enjoys helping people. We want somebody who can wear the hat of a mechanic, a teacher, and an engineer. The person we want is detail oriented, but can also take a step back and see the big picture. We’re not looking for somebody who is a master of network technologies – yet. We’ll teach you that part. But that means we want somebody who loves to learn and is willing to learn about technology and travel.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to talk.
Our corporate head office and primary machine room is located in Hamilton, Ontario. So, while this position is mostly work from home, there will be some on-site work, since you can’t install new hardware from home. :) In other words, we’d like our candidates to live within reasonable commuting range of our head office.
No recruiters or agencies please.
This is what we need:
· 1 year providing PC support, or equivalent academic qualification
· Good Windows debugging skills
· Good PC Hardware debugging skills (both computers and peripherals)
· Solid understanding of Office products (bonus for Office/Microsoft 365)
· Solid understanding of Internet browsers – Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge
· Good people and communication skills
· Strong ability to solve problems and to learn how to solve new problems
· Able to work independently and in a team
Bonus points if you have these skills:
· Familiarity with network infrastructure technologies (IP v4, Routers, Firewalls)
· Familiarity with Internet technologies (LAMP stack)
· Familiarity with Linux or other UNIX derivatives
· Some coding/scripting experience
· Experience with any of these products at a small-business level: Cisco, Yeastar, VMWare, Fortinet
· Some ability to speak/read French (don’t need full fluency)
· Experience with creating documentation / teaching materials
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00-$55,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • Paid time off
