EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Essential

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with colleagues and patients
  • Capability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Understanding of the importance of multidisciplinary and interagency collaboration to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Good clinical reasoning skills and awareness of scope of practice. Aware of when to escalate to senior colleagues and seek support
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of how to prioritise workloads, manage time effectively, and delegate tasks as needed
  • A clear understanding of clinical governance, quality assurance, and audit, with the ability to apply these principles in a healthcare setting
  • Commitment to best practices and awareness of relevant national standards and guidelines
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD), with a commitment to maintaining and advancing clinical expertise

Desirable:

  • Post-graduate clinical experience working as a physiotherapist. Rotational experience in Surgery, Medicine, Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics, and Neurology is considered beneficial.
  • Experience working in the field of exercise science or rehabilitation

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Essential:

  • BSc / MSc Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Desirable:

  • Membership of a specialist interest group, such as the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Oncology and Palliative Care (ACPOPC).

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

As a Junior Physiotherapist with us, you’ll play a pivotal role in work alongside the Exercise Clinic Lead Physiotherapist to provide tailored assessments and exercise prescription for those living with and beyond cancer. This is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact and develop your career.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Delivering comprehensive assessments and exercise prescription for those eligible for the Exercise Medicine service.
  • Responsible for delegating tasks to the Exercise Oncology Specialist and providing ongoing clinical supervision, training and direct line support (supported by the ECL Physiotherapist).
  • Actively participate in centre activities, including team meetings, daily huddles etc.
  • Responsible for contributing to accurate data collection and ensuring that all patient documentation is updated in a timely manner, in accordance with HCPC standards of proficiency and GCUK policy.
  • Responsible for contributing to active promotion of the service through regular communication with consultants, presenting at engagement events and internally within GCUK.
  • Responsible for contributing to data collection, quality improvement and service development.
