Primary Purpose of Role The Junior Planner is responsible for: Assisting the Planner with Merchandise and Assortment plans. General reporting and business analysis. Size and category analysis to define buy quantities. Providing financial analysis to ensure that financial goals and sales targets are met Key Result Areas and Responsibilities A. Financial Performance Contribute to the achievement of the department’s sales and gross profit targets. Assist with accurate, timely business analysis to the buying/planning team to maximise sales, margin and optimise inventory performance. Assist with commercial analysis to inform and confirm buying decisions. Analyse and forecast sales, profits, purchases and stocks, by department and class and product B. Operational Excellence Analyse the post-season data and conduct post-seasonal reviews. Assist the Senior Planner to create and maintain a comprehensive merchandise assortment plan. Assist with forecasting and the management of core programs based on sales trends and closing stock requirements. Assist with the management of the buy-plan seasonally to ensure that correct flow of options are placed and quantified. Review current sales trends and adjust stock at product line / category level in line with closing stock budgets. Provide in-season product analysis, tracking & reporting of sales and inventory levels. C. Brand Equity Assist with management of the entire product lifecycle, advising on allocation methods to improve in-stock position. Recommend and execute approved markdowns. Review and report on markdowns and ensure these are managed to budget. Ensure appropriate stock-mix is online, reviewing Markdown/Full-Price/Promo activity to achieve planned sell-throughs. Manage aged stock and flow of stock to clearance (timing and quantity). Assist with analysis and reporting to influence decisions and overall business performance. Manage tools and data which support analysis. i.e. product attributing and classification, gridding, size curves, and replenishment orders. Key Skills Qualifications & Experience Prerequisite Skills: Knowledge of footwear or fashion retailing, supply principles and retail store administration procedures Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel (Intermediate knowledge of databases and spreadsheets Excellent attention to detail with an analytical mind Strong organisational skills with the ability to be flexible & adaptable Great interpersonal skills and a team-focused attitude for getting the job done Excellent communication skills Preferred Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in data analysis within a retail environment Previous experience in the retail environment, footwear is an advantage
