Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE:

Manufacturing Engineering plays a critical role in supporting the successful transition of product designs into efficient, cost-effective, and high-quality production jobs. As a key part of the Manufacturing Excellence Team, this function serves as a liaison between Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Quality, ensuring that design releases are both manufacturable and aligned with operational capabilities.
This position focuses on evaluating and improving manufacturing methods, supporting the development and refinement of standard processes, and helping to drive continuous improvement across the production environment. Manufacturing Engineering also contributes to documentation, training, and problem-solving to support safe, lean, and repeatable manufacturing.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to mid-level team member to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative, engineered-to-order environment and contribute meaningfully to the company’s growth, performance, and customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

Manufacturing Engineering supports the efficient execution of design releases by maintaining documentation, improving processes, and driving quality and cost initiatives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the release of engineering drawings, manufacturing instructions, and documentation to the production floor.
  • Review engineering release packages for completeness and accuracy against Order Confirmation.
  • Verify Engineering Jobs (indented BOMs) against drawing packages to ensure all drawings are checked, approved, printed, and legible.
  • Populate Engineering Job templates with applicable sections and Engineering Designer names.
  • Create and print manufacturing Travelers; stamp drawings with “Release to Manufacturing” and “Release Date.”
  • Populate the “Manufacturing Inspection” checklist and include it in job packages.
  • Manage and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), ensuring alignment with manufacturing configurations.
  • Provide daily support to manufacturing operations, troubleshooting and resolving production issues.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional team (Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality) to implement process improvements that boost efficiency and manufacturability.
  • Coordinate and track Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for timely resolution.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality and process issues.
  • Contribute to cost savings, waste reduction, and cycle time improvement initiatives.
  • Support new product introductions and transitions from design to production, including documentation and training.
  • Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process optimization.
  • This job description is not all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned as needed.
