About the position: An Automation Engineer will be developing automated tests and maintaining automation frameworks to assist QA in their day-to-day testing activities. You will be utilizing your programming abilities and problem-solving skills to solve technical challenges standing in the way of test execution and accurate results reporting. Your role will require the ability to learn new things, pick up new languages, and integrate with existing infrastructure. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING Creating test procedures from written requirements Automating pre-existing manual tests Debugging failing tests Collaborating with a team of developers, QA engineers, and manual QA testers Manual testing as required by the project needs Learn how to build automation frameworks from the ground up Maintain existing automation frameworks TECHNICAL SKILLS Proficiency in at least two of the following, familiarity with the rest: programming languages (C#, JavaScript, Python, etc.) markup languages (HTML, XML, YAML, etc.) source control (git, SVN, MFTS, etc.) databases (SQL, Postgres, etc.) unit testing frameworks (MSTest, MochaJS, Pytest, etc.) related technical skills (developer tools, XPath, regular expressions, etc.) Working knowledge of: OOP design principles timing issues debugging practices Ability to teach yourself from technical documentation QA SKILLS Detecting patterns and identifying outliers Following written instructions Writing bug reports Interpreting test results Verifying new features and fixes Identifying gaps in test coverage Prioritizing test coverage to meet deadlines SOFT SKILLS Maintains trust and respect of the team and the client Keeps a level head Able to whiteboard abstract concepts Has a keen eye for detail Demonstrates strong communication skills Can be approached by others Exhibits good judgment Is a champion of hard, honest truths Moves, decides, asks, and acts Communication precisely but concisely We offer benefits such as paid vacations and holidays, insurance plans including health, paid dental, and paid vision. The position we are looking to fill is in our Iowa City office. Applicants from out of the area will be rejected. Salary Range: $33,000-$37,000, depending on experience All applicants are subject to a background check. Background checks will include, at a minimum, SSN verification, county criminal, federal criminal, sex offender registry, and government watch list. The background check must be completed before employment begins except when employment begins prior to the completion of the background check as a conditional offer. Once the background check is complete hiring authority and human resources will inform the conditional employee of hire based on the outcome of the background check.
