Responsibilities

MAIN TASKS

At the Hamburg Center for Translational Immunology (HCTI) at UKE, basic researchers and clinician scientists collaborate to investigate organ-specific inflammation and facilitate the transition from basic research to clinical application. A key initiative in this interdisciplinary effort is the newly funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1700, “Immune Regulation in the Liver: From Homeostasis to Disease.” (www.uke.de/sfb1700).
The CRC 1700 aims to deeply understand the mechanisms governing immune regulation in the liver, a central metabolic organ constantly exposed to various endogenous and exogenous substances. The liver’s ability to induce immune tolerance prevents chronic inflammation but may also increase vulnerability to chronic viral diseases and cancer. Enhancing our understanding of liver immune regulation is crucial for advancing treatment strategies for acute and chronic liver diseases.
We seek a dedicated junior research group leader to strengthen our focus on immune regulation in the liver. This position allows you to establish your own research team within the collaborative environment of the HCTI, contributing to CRC 1700’s ambitious goals. You will also have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and networking opportunities.

YOUR TASKS:

  • Establishment of a Junior Research group with a research focus on Immunology
  • Building knowledge on liver immune regulation within the HCTI and CRC 1700 framework
  • Introducing novel techniques or models to enhance immunology research within HCTI
The position offers competitive funding for three years for personnel and consumables, with potential extension for two more years based on performance evaluation.
