Description

Junior Researcher (Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies Programme)
The S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), a Graduate School of Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, is a leading research and teaching institution in strategic and international affairs and policy-oriented think-tank in the Asia-Pacific region.
RSIS is seeking applicants for the position of Junior Researcher in the Studies in Inter-Religious Relations in Plural Societies (SRP) Programme. The SRP Programme advances scholarship and applied research on religion and inter-religious dynamics in diverse societies, with a particular emphasis on Singapore and Asia. It explores how communities adapt religious practices and doctrines in plural settings and aims to develop models that promote peace and strengthen social ties.
The successful candidate will contribute to research on religion, interfaith relations, and social harmony. Responsibilities include supporting applied and policy-relevant projects, assisting in publications and digital initiatives, contributing to public outreach and engagement efforts, and helping to plan and implement events. The candidate will also monitor regional and global trends related to religion and society and assist senior researchers in producing written outputs.
Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field of study, such as sociology, religious studies, Asian studies, comparative religion, and anthropology. Strong research, writing, and analytical skills are essential, as is a keen interest in interfaith and religious diversity issues, primarily within the Singaporean context and secondarily in the global context. Candidates should be well-organised, self-motivated, able to work both independently and in teams, and possess excellent communication skills. Fluency in any Asian languages is an advantage.

All applicants should submit the following in your application:

  • A cover letter specifying how your qualifications match the job description
  • A detailed curriculum vitae
  • A statement of research interests
  • 2 writing samples or publications
  • 2 reference letters, including from non-university sources

We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
