Provide engineering expertise in the installation, integration, and operation of ground systems that support NOAA’s Satellite Service and related space missions.
All SMEs shall have the ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, work in a fast-paced team environment, and have strong written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field).
4-10 year’s experience with an understanding of operations and design of satellite ground stations. Advanced education can substitute for years’ experience in some cases.
Specific duties of the Junior Systems Engineer include:
Assists with plans and performs applied research and engineering for antenna systems/networks with Space Weather, GEO, and/or LEO satellites using analog and/or digital technologies.
Performs engineering/science calculations as needed in preparing designs & specifications and/or advises other engineers and technicians in the design and specifications of individual systems, components and details.
