STUDENT SUPPORT TEACHING ASSISTANT

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Student Support Teaching Assistant (SSTA) supports students by enhancing student engagement,

achievement, wellbeing, and inclusion. Working under the direction of the ILC Coordinator, the SSTA

provides targeted support to individual students and small groups, and contributes to a safe, inclusive,

and supportive learning environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES

• Support individual students and small groups based on the needs of the cohort.

• Implement learning adjustments and inclusive practices.
• Support literacy, numeracy and intervention programs.
• Provide wellbeing, behaviour and supervision support.
• Maintain records and assist with administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with teachers, families and specialist staff.
• Participate in professional learning and development.
• Assist with after School co-curricular programs as needed
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Junior School or his/her delegate.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Competent ICT skills (particularly iPads) and knowledge of applications frequently used in an

educational setting.
