START YOUR INTERNATIONAL CAREER IN ENGINEERING — WITH GLOBAL IMPACT

Join ABB in Rotterdam as a Junior Service Engineer Marine Drives. Are you (almost) done with your technical studies and looking for a job full of adventure, technology, and growth opportunities? Step aboard!
In this role within the maritime sector, you’ll work on innovative drive systems aboard ships all over the world. No two days are the same: today you’re testing systems in the port of Rotterdam — tomorrow you’re flying out to a cruise ship in the Bahamas. And with the right mindset, you can grow towards working on even larger systems like our medium voltage drives.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for someone who’s technically skilled and curious about the world. You don’t need years of experience , we value motivation, eagerness to learn, and an adventurous attitude even more.

You recognize yourself in the following:

  • You have an MBO-4 or Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • You’re excited about international work (sometimes urgent and unplanned).
  • You speak good Dutch and English.
  • You are independent but know when to ask for help.
  • You have a Category B driver’s license.
  • You’re passionate about technology and enjoy continuous learning.
Responsibilities

As a Junior Service Engineer, you’ll receive extensive guidance to develop into a fully qualified specialist. In the beginning, you’ll work closely with experienced colleagues to quickly get familiar with the technology and systems. Your tasks include:

  • Servicing low voltage drives aboard ships.
  • Supporting and shadowing during fault diagnostics and troubleshooting around the world.
  • Installing and commissioning new systems.
  • Reporting your findings and communicating directly with clients on board.

You’ll get real responsibility from day one — but never without support. You always have the backing of your team, whether you’re on a ship in Singapore or on an offshore platform in Norway.
