Description

COME JOIN US!

Over the last 40 years, Gastops has built a robust business which is recognized worldwide for its innovative contributions to equipment health management in the aviation, energy, marine, industrial and transportation industries. Gastops’ products and services add value throughout the life cycle of complex critical equipment from the design stage through to in-service operations and support. We design, manufacture, and support advanced equipment sensing and analysis products, including on-line oil debris sensors, torque measurement sensors, turbine blade health sensors, and at-line oil analysis systems.
Based out of our office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Gastops’ Service Center provide maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of aerospace components, laboratory fluid analysis, and state-of-the-art dynamic simulations of power and propulsion systems. Each of these services help our clients improve the lifecycle management and performance of large machines such as icebreakers, naval vessels, UAVs, and aircraft. We are looking for somebody to join our Machinery Analysis team and aid in achieving our mission of optimizing critical equipment and components for safety and productivity.
The Junior Machinery Analyst serves as a member of the Dartmouth NS services Engineering team, leading both internal and external initiatives related to Machinery Analysis. The position will report to the Team Lead of Machinery Analysis and work closely with the Defence & Aftermarket Business Unit. The role has a broad range of duties, all supporting the delivery of machinery analysis services to Gastops customers. Services are in the domain of design evaluation, diagnostics, prognostics and health management of client assets, with a heavy emphasis on dynamic system modelling and simulation. To execute the role effectively, the Machinery Analyst will collaborate closely with the engineering teams in both Gastops’ Dartmouth and Ottawa offices.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The primary responsibilities of the Machinery Analyst are to:

  • Design, Implement, Validate, & Verify dynamic models of power and propulsion equipment using first principles, and data collected from physical assets
  • Perform Static & Dynamic Analyses of client machinery using simulations and numerical techniques to de-risk design, optimise control strategies, evaluate critical performance metrics, and quantify parameter sensitivities
  • Research topics related to the degradation, failure, and maintenance of machinery using fundamental theory and empirical data

You May Also:

As an active member of the machinery analysis team, the Analyst may be asked to complete other tasks, which include but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the design and/or optimization of power and propulsion control algorithms
  • Assist in developing real time digital twins for use with prognostics and health management (PHM) systems
