Calian Antenna Solutions Ltd., located in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, designs and manufactures a wide range of precision antenna systems for satellite communications, radio astronomy, science and defense applications.
We are currently seeking a local candidate for the position of Junior Software Engineer.
The successful candidate will participate in the design, development, production, maintenance and upgrades of controllers and control software for large antenna systems. Projects will include everything from controller and user interface programming to PLC code development.
This is a fulltime, in office position. Monday – Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Software engineering or equivalent
• At least 2 years of experience in Python programming with knowledge of task automation and web-based applications.
• Understanding of networking concepts such as IP, routing, NAT, and sockets, along with basic computer and network security practices.
• Comfortable with using programming for automating tasks.
• Comfortable working in Linux and containerized environments.
• Basic knowledge of industrial ethernet technologies (e.g. Modbus, EtherCAT) would be a valuable asset.
• Experience with PLC programming and control systems
• Basic knowledge of version control (Git).
• Knowledge of Django web framework (python)
• Knowledge of Docker
• Basic knowledge/understanding about JavaScript, HTML, CSS
• Bilingual (English and French)

• Developing and maintaining Antenna Controller software on industrial PCs
• PLC programming of servo drives
• Developing user interfaces
• Software installation and commissioning of antenna systems
• Providing support to the antenna integration team
• Supporting customers with deployed software and updates
• Perform supplemental duties as assigned
