Description
The Role Fisher & Paykel is an iconic New Zealand brand, a global company with a strong local heritage. Our origins inspire our culture of curiosity and passion to develop solutions designed around people - these are some of the core elements that make us unique. We are driven by our values of being trusted, sustainably minded, innovative, generous, and curious. As a team we take a collaborative approach and have a working environment where all ideas are heard, evaluated, and tested against our leading goal - to be the world's most human-centered appliance brand. We are now entering a bold new chapter in our journey. Across Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, we are creating a world-class three-site campus: our Global HQ in Penrose, Distribution Centre in East Tāmaki, and landmark Global Experience Centre in Grey Lynn. These hubs connect our people and our purpose, forming a centre of excellence for design, innovation and storytelling in Aotearoa. About the Role: As a Junior Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions aligned to Fisher & Paykel’s strategic IT roadmap. Working closely with senior developers and solution architects, you will build high-quality, maintainable code while gaining end-to-end exposure across the full software development lifecycle — from analysis and design through to development, testing, deployment, and production support. This is a hands-on technical role offering broad exposure to enterprise-scale integrations across both legacy and strategic platforms. You will support the delivery of reliable, high-performing solutions while continuously learning, experimenting, and improving in a collaborative team environment. Key Responsibilities: Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code under the guidance of senior developers. Participate in analysis and solution design, contributing to implementation approaches with architect approval. Develop scalable, highly available, and robust end-to-end integration solutions across backend and frontend systems. Perform unit and integration testing, contribute to automated test suites, and support DevOps pipeline activities. Monitor applications, conduct root cause analysis, and assist in resolving production issues. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyse requirements, build new features, refactor existing applications, and participate in code reviews. About You: Up to 2 years’ experience as a Software Engineer with exposure to both backend (C# and Nodejs), frontend development (React) and Azure/AWS cloud services. Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), including testing, deployment, and production support. Exposure to integration development with third-party platforms or data sources is advantageous. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Demonstrated behaviours aligned to ownership, decisiveness, prioritisation, continuous learning, and constructive challenge. Familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools is advantageous. What we offer Our environment is designed to allow people to thrive. Our culture is one in which our people can constantly develop, working alongside a team of talented and skilled professionals. At Fisher & Paykel you will have opportunities for growth and exposure to a variety of things within a global organisation. You will be part of a team-based culture that offers great development opportunities, a challenging and supportive work environment, leading technology, work/life balance, competitive remuneration, superannuation scheme and a full on-site subsidised cafeteria (Auckland) and free car parking. #LI-LC1 Fisher & Paykel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
