The Role: Junior Software Engineer Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum. Location: This is a hybrid role, combining remote work with regular collaboration in our Derby office at least two days per week. Contract Type: Permanent Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday - Friday. ----- What will you be getting up to? We are looking for an enthusiastic junior software engineer to join our talented and innovative Engineering team working on multiple systems throughout the Motorpoint infrastructure. Our internal systems include legacy desktop and web-based applications, Restful APIs and command line services (often used to consume messages handled by a Message Bus. In addition, we develop integrations with third parties such as the DVLA, banks, finance providers and others. The role is for a full-stack engineer, offering experience in a wide-range of applications from developing User Interfaces through Business logic and into the data layer. Essential skills: Knowledge of version control software (Git/Azure DevOps) Experience with .NET (C#) Experience with SQL (Microsoft SQL Server preferred) JavaScript/JQuery CSS Willingness to learn and advance knowledge in both independent and guided fashions. Desirable skills: Microsoft Visual Studio as an IDE. Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Message Buses (specifically Rabbit MQ) React/Next.js Experience of working in Agile environments Experience of working with a cloud provider (AWS/Azure) Experience of working with a CMS (Content Management System) Experience of working with a unit testing framework.
