Company Background
Britannia Brewing is a local brewery, taphouse and eatery with a focus on craft beer and modern west coast cuisine. We are an up-scale casual restaurant that ups the game on food, where other taphouses fall flat. Our location is in the heart of Ladner Village and only 35 minutes from Vancouver, and we are looking for a talented, motivated Sous Chef to help lead our team.
Job Summary
As the Sous Chef of Britannia Brewing Ladner, you will play a key role in assisting the Head Chef with all areas relating to culinary operations. You will be bringing your ideas and skill set to develop features, contribute to our seasonal menus and to optimize culinary operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading daily preparation activities and leading lunch/dinner services
  • Effectively manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Maintaining kitchen inventory, ordering and receiving of product
  • Supporting senior management with the hiring, training and retention of all kitchen staff
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment for all staff in compliance with all local and provincial health guidelines
  • Promoting teamwork through leading by example, effective feedback and thoughtful communication
  • Maintaining a high level of food quality in accordance with company standards and ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Maintaining positive vendor relations

Working Conditions

  • Hours and shifts may vary according to business levels. Flexibility to work weekends, evenings is required. Work life balance is a priority for our team and the goal is always to work smarter, not harder.
  • Work is performed in a fast-past kitchen environment with great people

Requirements

  • minimum 2 years of sous chef or equivalent experience preferred
  • Food Safe Level 1
  • Experience in leading and/or supporting a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, strong work ethic, common sense, sense of urgency
  • Willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback
  • Creativity and confidence in creating daily/ weekly features
  • Overall passion for the hospitality industry, a love for food and a desire to engage with and impact guests (passion for craft beer a bonus)
