We are an Italian restaurant in Markham. Our goal is to bring innovative Italian dishes and a vibrant dining experience to the suburbs of Toronto. We mainly serve pizza and pasta in a beautiful dinning space that cater for around 70 guests.
Summary
As a junior sous cook you will take care of your station in the kitchen, preparing food in a professional manner as well as monitoring other kitchen staffs in the restaurant to ensure a smooth operation on a day to day basis. Including preparation of food, maintaining appetizer/main/dessert station, working with the POS, keep the BOH area clean, catering to guests needs, inventory management, and assisting in events.
As a junior sous cook at Mattarello you will work closely with the sous chef and here are some of your key duties and responsibilities:
- Knowledge of all menu items
- Catering to guests preferences/allergies and preparing alternative ingredients in regards to their choices
- Cooking and preparing of food
- Keeping the restaurant space clean and organized
- Polishing and distributing glassware and flatware
- Assist in menu creation
- Learn to train and monitor kitchen staffs in a professional manner
- Manage inventory and collaborate with the sous chef/ head chef
Experience and Skillset Preferred:
- Proven experience as a line cook, preferably in an Italian restaurant

- Experience in leading a team/ management
- Knowledge of Italian cuisine
- Demonstrates excellent cooking skills
- Being able to adapt and work in a very fast paced environment
