Job Description
We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Junior Sous Chef – Pastry to join our culinary team at Novotel Sunshine Coast Resort and Convention Centre. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll oversee pastry production across both our resort dining outlets, including SOLA Bar & Restaurant, and our large-scale convention centre. You’ll play a key role in day-to-day operations while contributing creatively to menus and leading a high-performing team across two diverse kitchens.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of a wide range of pastries, desserts, and baked goods across multiple service areas
  • Collaborate on the development of seasonal menus and event-specific offerings, bringing creativity and consistency to every dish
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior pastry staff, supporting skill development and high performance
  • Monitor stock levels, coordinate ordering, and ensure seamless kitchen workflow and prep schedules
  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene, and allergen management protocols in line with industry standards
  • Assist with food cost control, portioning, and waste reduction to support overall profitability
  • Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-energy kitchen environment
