Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.
Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.
A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen.
This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
Your role
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Communications, Engagement and EDI, as Junior Specialist, People and Engagement, you are responsible for gathering and developing written content and communications material, as well as for coordinating the delivery of consistent messaging. The goal is to build an engaging, relevant culture within CBC/Radio-Canada’s Technology & Infrastructure component.
As part of the People and Engagement Team, you will support internal engagement initiatives and events. You will also work collaboratively with clients and partners to research and provide ad hoc communications support. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of initiatives related to our newsletter, internal articles and other communications media.
You must demonstrate a keen interest in technology and communications and have strong writing skills in both English and French. You must also be good at synthesizing information and conceptualizing technical subject matter quickly and effectively. Lastly, strong interpersonal skills are essential to create the type of engaging content required for the role.
The position can be based in Montreal, Ottawa or Toronto.

Key responsibilities:

  • Gather, develop and share internal communications material with the goal of building an overarching and engaging culture within T&I.
  • Meet with and interview contributors as part of producing content aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Curate and write newsletter content and other communications.
  • Prepare material (communications plans, internal memos, emails, announcements, etc.) and co-ordinate the distribution thereof using the appropriate channels.
  • Create and maintain communication channels and platforms targeting T&I and corporate-wide audiences, including the T&I newsletter, staff portal and iO pages.
  • Maintain an awareness of CBC/Radio-Canada and T&I strategic priorities and objectives, including official languages, diversity and inclusion and other key considerations, to ensure consistent, relevant and impactful messaging.
  • Use language to mobilize staff around and promote the T&I vision, and implement strategies designed to articulate, promote and support CBC/Radio-Canada and T&I strategic objectives.
  • Help define the T&I voice, culture and brand to better position how it is recognized and utilized by staff.
  • Actively support the Program Lead in coordinating and promoting corporate and departmental initiatives within T&I.
  • Respect and promote our standards in terms of content accessibility.

What you bring:

Skills and Qualifications

  • University degree in communications, marketing, public relations or journalism.
  • Experience writing content or working in an internal communications department.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, in both official languages (English and French).
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
  • High degree of autonomy and self-motivation.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to respond to multiple urgent requests and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to clearly demonstrate flexibility and agility when faced with changing priorities.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.
  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
