Description Role Summary Summary and overall objectives of the job. The Junior Systems Administrator provides day-to-day technical support for a Windows-based environment. This role is ideal for an IT professional with prior help desk or IT support experience who is ready to grow into systems administration responsibilities, including light server management, Azure administration, and infrastructure/network troubleshooting. The position works closely with Infrastructure & Cybersecurity Manager to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations. Essential Functions Provide technical support for end users across hardware, software, and network-related issues in a Windows environment. Assist with administration and maintenance of Windows servers, including basic patching, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Support Active Directory and our IDP for user and group management, permissions, and account provisioning/deprovisioning. Perform routine IT operational tasks such as workstation setup, imaging, and software deployment. Assist with Azure and Microsoft 365 administration (e.g., Azure AD/Entra ID, user access, cloud services). Troubleshoot networking issues involving DNS, DHCP, VPN connectivity, and LAN/WAN access. Help maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and support workflows. Participate in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and security initiatives as needed. Handle complex technical issues and escalate to senior administrators while continuing to learn and contribute. Core Competencies Working knowledge of Windows desktop and server environments Familiarity with Active Directory and basic identity/access management Strong troubleshooting and customer service mindset Understanding of core networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) Exposure to cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 Ability to manage multiple support requests in a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical users Desire to grow into infrastructure and systems administration work Organized, detail-oriented, and able to follow IT best practices Requirements Associate or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience). 1–3 years of experience in an IT Support, Help Desk, or Technical Support role. Experience supporting Windows-based environments required. Exposure to server administration, networking, or cloud platforms is a plus. Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to approximately 25–50 pounds as needed. Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
