LightFeather is seeking a Junior Proposal Writer to support the development and delivery of high-quality technical and business proposals for government clients. This role is ideal for a strong writer eager to learn and grow in the field of federal proposal writing.
Location: On-site, 5 days/week in Arlington, Virginia
Job Type: Full-time
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of professional writing experience, preferably in technical, business, or proposal writing.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to work on-site, five days per week, in Arlington, VA.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience writing or editing content for government proposals.
  • Experience writing IT technical proposals.
  • Familiarity with the federal procurement process and RFP structures.
  • Experience with proposal management tools or content management systems.
Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and format technical and business proposal content in response to government Requests for Proposal (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and Sources Sought notices.
  • Collaborate with technical teams, project managers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather and synthesize information for proposal sections.
  • Ensure consistency in style, tone, and formatting across proposal documents in alignment with LightFeather’s brand and compliance standards.
  • Review and proofread content for grammar, clarity, and compliance with solicitation requirements.
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of proposal templates, outlines, and compliance matrices.
  • Help manage proposal schedules, ensuring deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Participate in proposal development activities including kickoff meetings and color team reviews.
  • Contribute to and maintain a library of reusable proposal content to streamline future responses.
