John Ross & Sons Ltd. is searching for an energetic, motivated, and hands-on Junior Trader to join their energetic private enterprise.

Responsibilities

Working directly with the executive trading team, the Junior Trader will have an opportunity to develop a comprehensive knowledge of metals, industry-based marketing strategies and experience international sales. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Monitor market fluctuations and accordingly adjust commodity pricing through the process of learning and implementing supply and demand calculations
  • Help create a competitive advantage for JRS’ trading and supply chain activities, while learning about the products and logistics solutions that the company provides
  • Meet with existing and potential customers to gather and analyze needs and requirements for product, including new business opportunities
  • Research and present recommendations to senior management on new markets and growth opportunities
  • Confidently identify all commodities and materials in the company inventory, or future potential inventory items
  • Coordinate and test product, and determine the value of product based on testing results
  • Negotiate and finalize sales with domestic and international customers
  • Utilize and improve current methods, tools and software used for sales transactions, inventory turnover and company profitability
  • Manage the freight and shipping of products in conjunction with operations and logistics teams
  • Record and report sales and material volumes, contract statuses and inventory forecasts
  • Create and execute monthly sales plans to ensure ongoing communication with customers
  • Provide analysis and deliver timely sales reporting
  • Manage after-sales service
  • Ensure all queries, and any problems are handled in an efficient and professional manner
  • Hedging, to mitigate risk
