Description

An excellent opportunity has opened up at our Cork Depot based in Little Island for a Junior Transport Co-ordinator. This is an entry level role. The planner ensures that our fleet is operating in time and that our customers’ needs are met and exceeded. The Transport Coordinator will work closely with Driver group, Transit Terminal and our customer service team. A strong knowledge of local geography is key. The planner will also allocate collection requests as well as engaging in any ‘second run’ activity.
The role requires an energetic person comfortable with adopting a leadership role where needs be. You will work with a team of Cross Dock Forklift Operators and work cross functionally with multiple stakeholders and will be expected to train on and operate forklifts as needed. There is an expectation that the Planner will support the night shift during periods of annual leave as well as to develop a working knowledge of daytime roles too in order to have a depth of understanding as to how the business works.
Working hours: 9am-6pm
Monday to Friday

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience route planning in the Domestic Logistics or Transport Industry.
  • Knowledge of RSA/HSA regulations drivers hours, load security, ADR regulations advantageous.
  • Problem-solving skills, an ability to multi-task and the confidence to make decisions.
  • Ability to successfully manage within deadlines.
  • Strong transport planning skills and knowledge of Munster areas essential.
  • Good attention to detail skills a distinct advantage.
  • Good computer skills with experience using Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment
Responsibilities
  • To help plan the efficient routing of daily deliveries in the Munster Area.
  • Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 9:00 am to 18:00 pm. Flexibility due to additional days/hours during peak periods is required.
  • Utilize the operating systems to plan daily driver routes, assuring all customer needs or requirements are met.
  • Communicate transportation delays to the team.
  • Work with service partners where needed optimising fleet dispatch.
  • Provides support to Branch Night Shift as needed.
  • Ensuring that the team follow all safety requirements and understand how to react in the event of an incident or accident.
  • Observing all security protocols. Gate close, shutters used and suspicious behaviour reported.
