Role description: Arcadis Canada is seeking a Jr. Water Wastewater Engineer with Canadian experience in consulting for municipal, industrial, and First Nations water and wastewater facilities to join our Markham, Ontario team. Preferred locations for candidates are anywhere between Waterloo and Kingston, Ontario. The Water Wastewater Engineer in Training will lead design, engineering, O&M, capital work in close collaboration with our teams in Canada and the United States to expand the water business line. The Engineer in Training must also have technical knowledge and background to provide technical support on related engineering tasks. Role accountabilities: Manage the successful and timely delivery of challenging and multi-disciplinary projects; Work closely with our Canadian and Global teams to leverage our technical resources and knowledge for servicing clients; Coordinate and provide support for our existing work and future opportunities in the water and/or wastewater Provide the highest quality of service to our municipal, industrial and First Nations clients by possessing exceptional technical and managerial skills in the design, construction and operations/maintenance of water and/or wastewater facilities and related infrastructure; Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspection and testing; Assist with the preparation of technical memoranda, business cases, reports and electronic deliverables; Assist with studies, market research and alternative scenario analysis; Assist with selection and design of innovative treatment solutions, construction alternatives and/or rehabilitation techniques; Develop understanding of regulatory, compliance and permitting requirements for a variety of jurisdictions and assist with development of permitting exhibits and permit applications; Duties may also include field activities such as field reconnaissance, site investigations, W/WW sampling and/or site observation activities. The ideal candidate will have experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and Power BI, as well as proficiency with drafting software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. They should demonstrate an inclination for involvement in design and construction services related to buried infrastructure or conveyance projects, particularly water and wastewater (W/WW) systems. The candidate should be eager to learn and apply innovative solutions and approaches in W/WW systems and be open to being mentored and coached by local and global experts. Active participation in regional and/or national professional industry associations is expected, and experience working with First Nations communities and small water and wastewater systems programs is considered an asset. A valid G2 driver's license and a good driving record are required. Qualifications & Experience: Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or similar field with specialization in drinking water preferred Preferred Qualifications 1+; years of experience preferred Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification preferred Water and/or Wastewater (level 1) operator license preferred Knowledge on project management or capital delivery experience Why Arcadis?
