Description
A career-launching opportunity to learn, grow, and cook with purpose inside a world-class tech company’s kitchen Set yourself up for a meaningful and exciting culinary career by joining the PortSwigger kitchen team — the people behind the food that fuels the creators of Burp Suite, the world’s most widely used web security testing software. While our software helps secure the web, our food supports the people building it. At PortSwigger, our in-house kitchen team is a vital part of the workplace experience. We provide fresh, nutritious, and inclusive meals to a tight-knit team of engineers, creatives, and problem solvers at our purpose-built HQ in Knutsford. The kitchen is a space for development, teamwork, and serious culinary craft — no egos, just great food and a hunger to improve. About you You don’t need loads of experience — just the right attitude. We’re looking for someone who’s: Curious, enthusiastic, and keen to grow as a chef Energised by learning and not afraid to ask questions Passionate about food, nutrition, and looking after others through great service Excited to work in a collaborative, fast-paced kitchen with high standards Open to feedback, and sees it as a tool for personal and professional growth Humble, professional, and brings positive energy to their work Already developing their skills in their spare time, or looking for the chance to do so If you’re eager to build a strong foundation in kitchen operations and grow your skills under the guidance of experienced chefs, we want to hear from you. What you’ll do This is a hands-on learning role. You’ll be involved in all aspects of the kitchen while being supported to build your confidence and capability over time. Support food prep and service: Assist in preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals each day Learn kitchen operations: Gain experience in food hygiene, prep, organisation, and stock rotation Be part of a team: Work closely with a friendly, experienced team who’ll support your growth Contribute ideas and feedback: Help improve how we work and suggest ways to make meals even better Grow your career: With regular feedback, mentoring, and structure, you’ll build the skills to progress confidently What we’re looking for This is a junior position, so we don’t expect perfection. But ideally, you’ll have: Some formal training or education in catering, cheffing, or hospitality Experience working as part of a team (not necessarily in a kitchen) A willingness to take on feedback and try new approaches A strong sense of organisation and timekeeping Even better if you have… Experience working in a commercial kitchen, even as a kitchen porter or assistant Exposure to different kitchen stations or dietary requirements An interest in nutrition or inclusive food planning Why join PortSwigger? We’re a high-trust, high-expectation company that invests in people — including those early in their career. Our culture is feedback-rich, collaborative, and caring. We believe in supporting you to own your development, push yourself, and celebrate your progress. This isn’t just a job in a kitchen. It’s a chance to grow, learn, and thrive as part of a brilliant team — and to make a real impact every day.
Responsibilities
You will support food preparation and service, assisting in preparing and serving high-quality, nutritious meals. Additionally, you will learn kitchen operations and contribute ideas to improve meal offerings.
