ABOUT US:

The Melbourne Assessment Prison (MAP) is a maximum-security correctional facility located on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD. The Prison is the State’s main reception prison, receiving prisoners directly from the Courts and Police and provides assessment and orientation services for all male prisoners received into the prison system.
The MAP also operates the Melbourne County Court, Supreme Court and Supreme Court Appeals custody facilities, located on the corners of William and Lonsdale Streets in the CBD. These facilities manage both male and female prisoners of all security ratings, operating Monday to Friday. The location also manages the St Vincent’s Hospital holding cells, providing custodial liaison and coordination of all prisoner escorts attending the hospital for medical outpatient appointments from prison locations across the State. Map also looks after the security function at the Adult Parole Board and the Post Sentence Authority located at 50 Franklin Street West Melboune.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria and its stakeholders. Presently the CVIS comprises the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU), and Prison Intelligence Unit’s (PIU) located at the twelve public and two private prison facilities in Victoria.

The role of a Justice Officer - Administration (Intelligence Unit):

  • Assists the Prison Intelligent Unit in their daily activities.
  • Maintains the IVO database, permission to enter and prisoner phones.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant legislative and organisational requirements.
  • Maintains the Stakeholders green passes.

The position may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Enterprise Agreement.

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Well-developed computer literacy.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment
