The Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility with a focus on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration back into society.
It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

At the Beechworth Correctional Centre, each Justice Officer role specialises in one of three streams - Stores, Canteen and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Under the direction of the Team Leader - Justice Officers, provide a range of Stores & Finance services including warehouse, finance support, purchasing, procurement, stock/inventory control, general prison/prisoner services administration and various other related duties.
  • Serving prisoners within prisoner shops/canteens whilst being responsible for direct supervision of prisoner workers, ordering and receipting of stock, maintenance of minimum stock levels and shop lists, security of shop stock, stocktaking and stock-control, record keeping and ensuring the shop is clean and in good order
  • Working productively and respectfully as part of a dedicated and supportive team within a rotational roster framework featuring task responsibilities in accordance with this position description

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Sound knowledge of and application of legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.
  • Well-developed computer literacy and experience with Oracle or similar finance related system.
  • An understanding of shop, store and warehousing operations including associated stock management
